I recently completed a design challenge to showcase my process as a Product Manager. Follow along left to right as I highlight some takeaways from this design challenge. Below is just a snapshot of my work, the full slide desk is available here.

Core Business Question…

How can we make it easier for teachers to assign relevant skills to their students as homework?

User Persona…

Jessica is a middle school math teacher who has used an EdTech platform for 2+ years. She uses E- Learning to help students master topics and practice questions outside of the classroom. Much of the class time is spent in lecture or reviewing difficult problem sets. Jessica say’s E-Learning gives students a great outlet to practice concepts and achieve mastery. While Jessica uses the star feature to highlight which topics students should complete as well as the URL function. She finds this to be time consuming especially as each student has individual practice needs.

Potential Solution…

AI Powered Homework Assigner (Skill Wizz):

  • Automatically assign skills to a student based on their previous results. Teacher parameters will allow for as much/little customization, easing the process of assigning skills.

Solution: Skill Wizz

Priority #1: Determine which skills should be assigned to a student based on their previous learning history, what kind of questions need improvement (word problem, equations, ect) and then automatically assign a particular skill set to this student for homework. Teacher parameters will allow for customization so workload (and other criteria), is similar across classroom.

Priority #2: Incorporate AI powered chatbot to assist with homework

Priority #3: Data-driven AI powered lesson plans based on what skills students struggle with

Success Metrics: User adoption can be defined as when a teacher creates their first assignment using Skill Wizz Assignment Center

User Base:

  • Total number of teachers who have access to AI Assignment Center

Measurement Period:

  • Prioritize monthly results

  • Data will be collected by tracking activity on platform

Primary Metric - Adoption Rate:

  • User Adoption Rate = (Number of Teachers Using AI Assignment Center / Total Number of Teachers) x 100
